Renew: As we emerge from the long dark months of winter and cold-weather activity, we begin turning our attention toward spring, a new season of activity and movement. Join us as we take our cue from nature, reviving what lies dormant within us, discovering new ways to emerge in nature.
This event offers a perfect opportunity for beginners and long-time outdoor recreationalists alike to learn more about hiking and how to stay safe and healthy outside. Share your experiences in nature, discuss the risks and rewards of the outdoors, bring your questions and curiosity, and above all, let’s celebrate and reclaim the richness of our histories and culture in this very special community setting.
This half-day Trailblazers event is good for all skill levels, as we’ll be taking breaks for activities, discussion, informal lessons, photos and fun!
Financial aid is available. Find out more here.

Our instructors are women of color with in-depth wilderness training and teaching experience, a shared passion for the outdoors, and for this growing program! Through intentional planning and leadership, the Trailblazers experience invites the collective intelligence and histories of our constituents to create outings that bridge our divides and elevate our sense of wonder, agency, and belonging in nature.
Trailblazers is an affinity space within Women’s Wilderness created by and for those who identify as women of color. At Women’s Wilderness, we recognize the importance and value of creating safe, self-directed spaces as an option for our participants who seek it, and it’s the goal of the Trailblazers team to address that need by fostering community, joy, and connection within our diverse identities as we explore the outdoors together.
