Yoga and Canoeing

New for 2018  ::  Sliding Scale Course Fees  |  Women’s Wilderness has created a sliding scale for all its Women’s programs in an effort to keep our courses affordable to a wide range of people.  All our pricing scales are significantly below the prices of for-profit companies. The top price represents the actual cost to run the course, and the second two tiers represent scholarships.  We set forth no criteria and trust that each individual will pay what they feel is appropriate.

This trip will incorporate canoeing with the mind-body connection. The trip will begin with a gentle movement practice to begin opening areas of our body that we will use while canoeing. On the river we will focus on taking in the full experience of being on the water. Emphasis will be on noticing physical and emotional sensations as well as areas of discomfort. During this time, we will attempt to stay as present as possible with whatever is arising in us. As we know canoes can tip, to stay upright you will have to find a way to keep yourself balanced. In our yoga practice we will perform multiple balancing postures to not only keep our canoes upright, but also to keep our mind, body, and soul aligned.

No canoeing experience is necessary and we will provide basic instruction and orientation at the beginning of every trip, including learning river safety, paddle strokes, and how to read the river and work with the current. All of your river gear (boat, lifejacket, & paddle) will be provided. We also provide dry bags for your belongings.
