2019 Dates: June 17 – 21

This is NEW foundation rock climbing course just for middle school girls where we will spend 5 days car camping and rock climbing in Vedauwoo, Wyoming.
Through the art of climbing, girls will explore their values, develop a growth mindset and learn how to navigate challenges and develop bravery
We at Women’s Wilderness believe that before you can lead, you must first have a strong sense of personal identity. During this course, each girl will explore her sense of identity and personal values and beliefs. We will teach and practice skills around self-awareness as it applies to both rock climbing and life at home and school.
This course is appropriate for girls who have never climbed before and want to give it a try AND for girls who have climbed in the gym or outdoors before. We will climb, boulder, and practice technical climbing skills. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced climber, our climbing instructors will coach you on how to develop, refine and strengthen your rock climbing technique. By the end of the course, you will know how to belay, tie climbing-specific knots and call out climbing commands. You will gain experience assessing risk management and climbing both crack and face routes on top rope. Your instructors are women who are experienced climbers and teachers and will give you the coaching appropriate for your skill level!
We will be base camping, which means that you will also learn how to set up a tent, cook meals, and live for 6 days at one campsite.
In addition to practicing outdoor skills, Adventure Climbing Camp participants will learn the Women’s Wilderness curriculum of Growth Mindset, Emotional Literacy, and Identity Development.
I learned so much about how powerful I am, physically and emotionally. I never thought I would be able to do all the things I did on this trip. This will be useful for my life because I will believe in myself more, love my body, and take more risks.” – Clara, age 17, Women’s Wilderness Alumni
