Family Canoe Day – Whole Family Welcome!
Our canoes are built for 2. Perfect for a day out as a family!
What a perfect way to get outside as a family with your daughter without the distraction of cell phones or screens! And it’s a chance to cool off right in the middle of the summer heat, try something fun and new together, laugh, see wildlife, and meet other great parents and daughters!
Prepare yourself for a relaxed wilderness canoeing experience amidst the farms and ranches of Boulder & Weld counties. Come meet the family of bald eagles that lives close by, the two families of great horned owls, or the monstrous snapping turtle that has shown up on many of our journeys. You may also see a mink, some snowy egrets, yellow-headed blackbirds, great blue herons, and more! There is always something new to see and learn. It will be a 5 hour day and we’ll spend about 2.5 to 3 hours on a 4-mile section of the lower St. Vrain River.
No canoeing experience is necessary and we will provide basic instruction and orientation at the beginning of every trip, including learning river safety, paddle strokes, and how to read the river and work with the current. All of your river gear (boat, life jacket, & paddle) will be provided. We also provide dry bags for your belongings.
