“I just wanted to tell you how much fun Leora and I had today!! Lauren and her crew made today truly memorable with their support, knowledge of the flora and fauna, and love of adventure. Leora is not always the most comfortable around water, but she eagerly floated down the river on her back without any prompting from me, and by the end of the trip, she was doing it without holding my hand. She also discovered she likes canoeing, and several times she marveled at the beauty the river showed us. We cannot wait to do another adventure with Women’s Wilderness and The River’s Path!”
Learn fundamental canoeing skills, build connection with each other and the natural world through time on the river, play, and animal tracking.
Prepare yourself for a relaxed wilderness canoeing experience amidst the farms and ranches of Boulder & Weld counties. Come meet the family of bald eagles that lives close by, the two families of great horned owls, or the monstrous snapping turtle that has shown up on many of our journeys. You may also see a mink, some snowy egrets, yellow-headed blackbirds, great blue herons, and more! There is always something new to see and learn.
No canoeing experience is necessary and we will provide basic instruction and orientation at the beginning of every trip, including learning river safety, paddle strokes, and how to read the river and work with the current. All of your river gear (boat, life jacket, & paddle) will be provided. We also provide dry bags for your belongings.
Our canoe courses need a minimum number of participants enrolled at least one week out for the courses to be guaranteed to run. If you’re considering signing up, please sign up early to ensure the course will meet it’s required number.
