We at Women’s Wilderness acknowledge the significant impact the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) is having on all of our lives. For 22 years, we have provided adventurous experiences for girls and women with the safety and well-being of our participants, field staff, and partners as a priority. In doing this work, we have practiced assessing risk in large and small ways—whether it’s the potential for a storm or the reliability of a climbing rope. We’ve learned to trust our research, partners, and our training to guide us through hard decisions that can impact us and our community. This moment is calling on that experience.
As of right now, our summer courses will begin on July 6th. We are hopeful that the efforts to mitigate the virus in place will allow us to offer our Girls’ and Queer Wilderness courses this summer in support of the recovery of our community. We are working with our course physician and mental health experts to create clear COVID-19 Policies and Procedures guidelines to help us ensure health and mitigate risks of exposure. We have shifted the dates and location of the Summit Sisters retreat to Magic Sky Ranch on August 28-30 to better ensure compliance with social distancing efforts.
We are following the recommendations set forth by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We will continue to monitor the situation, assess risks, make informed decisions and communicate with you all about any changes in the days ahead.
COVID-19 Course Cancellation Policies
Women’s Wilderness Cancellation:
If Women’s Wilderness cancels a course for any reason due to COVID-19 before a program begins, we will try to reschedule your course, or move your registration to a comparable course offered later in the summer season. If that is not possible, families may either retain a Women’s Wilderness course credit to utilize on a future Women’s Wilderness program within one year, or receive a full refund for any course fees paid over the course deposit. If Women’s Wilderness cancels a course after it begins due to COVID-19, refunds will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
If a participant is cancelling their registration for any reason due to COVID-19, we will try to move their registration to a future course date. If that is not possible, families may either retain a Women’s Wilderness course credit to utilize on a future Women’s Wilderness program within one year, or receive a full refund for any course fees paid over the course deposit. If a participant has to leave a course early due to COVID-19, refunds will be addressed on a case by case basis.
