Kate Sedrowski, Community Engagement Coordinator

Kate is a climber, creator, and community builder on a mission to help women and girls find their strength and get out of their comfort zones by getting outside.

Working for many years in the male-dominated field of sports television, including six seasons as the director of photography for BullsTV, the in-house video production department of the Chicago Bulls, Kate often found herself as the only woman in a crew of men, and she learned to pride herself on the ability to “be one of the guys.” But after discovering rock climbing, Kate also discovered an amazing community of strong women. She helped organize and lead a weekly women’s meetup at her climbing gym where she saw the power of women coming together to support each other while learning and growing. This led Kate to shift her focus to working to create more spaces for women and girls to build their confidence through outdoor adventures.

A nomad at heart, Kate grew up in Michigan and has lived in Boston, Los Angeles, San Antonio, and Chicago. After falling head over heel hooks for climbing, Kate moved to Golden, Colorado because “the mountains were calling.” Now she spends as much time as possible exploring the crags of the Front Range and beyond, usually with her camera in hand. She’ll climb just about anything, from leading fun sport to projecting boulders to following multi-pitch trad.
