Year-End Campaign raises $48,000!

A huge thank you to everyone who responded with a donation to support the work of The Women's Wilderness Institute. The spirit of giving warmed our hearts as we felt this strong support from our individual donors who believe that confident, resilient girls and women make a stronger world! This positions us to be able to once again make the Girls' Wilderness and Community Programs available to girls of all income levels, and to continue our commitment to never turn away a girl based on ability to pay.

Is it possible for course participants to join in the circle of giving? Karen Blumenstein would answer this with a resounding YES! Karen participated on our Green River Yoga Retreat this past September. She loved her wilderness adventure and began to think about how she could raise money so that others could enjoy a similar experience. She created an e-appeal and sent it to her work associates, families and friends. The result? Karen was able to raise $15,000 toward a course for Single Moms and their children. Karen reflected on her inspiration for this, "Thoreau said, ‘I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.' Everyone should have the chance to take that journey, to open their eyes to the possibilities. The single - mother child program will open many eyes and hopefully, create many possibilities."

Karen did not stop there, she has now joined our Board and we are excited to have her talents and "can do" attitude as part of the leadership for the organization.
Thanks to Karen and all our individual donors, with their amazing ability to extend out and give a helping hand to others!
