Hit the snow with skills and confidence. Learn the basics or refine your technique while developing solid winter travel and backcountry practices. These courses are designed to make winter sports more accessible and comfortably challenge you at your skill level.

Intro to Telemark Skiing
 

One day: Jan 12 or Feb 2, Eldora Mountain Resort
Free your heels! Have fun learning the fundamentals of making a telemark turn, linking turns and safety skills with the coaching of seasoned tele instructors. No previous Telemark experience necessary. but must be able to snowplow. Includes lift ticket, rental equipment and lunch.

Tuition: $115

Intro to Ice Climbing
 

One day: Jan 20, Boulder Area
Discover the magical world of ice climbing! You’ll learn how to use crampons and ice tools, techniques required to climb on both low-angle and steeper ice and critical safety skills for ice climbing. No previous ice climbing experience is necessary, although belaying experience is required. Includes climbing gear and lunch.

Tuition: $100

Snowshoe Map & Compass
 

One day: Jan 26, Rocky Mountain National Park
Ditch the crowds! Learn snowshoeing techniques, how to travel off-trail, read a map in snowy terrain, compass skills and winter safety. No previous experience necessary. Includes snowshoes and lunch.

Snowboarding Beginner's Clinic
 

One day: Dec 15, Eldora Mountain Resort
Cruise the mountain! You’ll learn if you ride regular or goofy, tricks for getting off the lift, how to link turns, stop on both edges and ride safely. No experience necessary. Includes lift ticket, rentals and lunch.

Tuition: $115

Backcountry Basics
 

One day: Jan 12, Rocky Mountain National Park
Play safely in the snow! Spend a day learning avalanche awareness and critical safety skills for winter touring on this course designed for backcountry skiers and snowboarders. Includes lunch.

Tuition: $100

Fitness Level: moderate

   
Backcountry Skills Yurt Trip
 

3 days: Jan 17-19, Cameron Pass (NW Colorado)
Get into the snow! Spend 3 days developing solid winter skills and 2 nights tucked in a scenic high-country yurt. You’ll learn backcountry ski and snowshoe techniques, avalanche awareness, winter safety skills, how to build a snow shelter and packing tips for extreme weather.

Tuition: $425

If you don't see your ideal combination of skills and dates listed on our winter schedule, give us a call and we'll create a course for you. We run private and small group courses all the time with prices starting around $200 per person/day, (with some savings as you add friends to your group). You choose the activity and the dates and we'll do the rest!
