Find yourself off trail. Build a solid foundation of navigation skills during this cross-country day hike in the Foothills near Boulder. Learn the fundamentals of topography, orientation, declination, and triangulation, incorporating the techniques through practical route-finding exercises. Enjoy the company of other hikers and feel prepared to add off-trail terrain to your future hikes. For women with some prior hiking experience.

Hone your navigation skills, hiking technique and backcountry cooking while developing the tools to lead your own expedition. Our route journeys to the Continental Divide and includes an optional, non-technical climb of one of Colorado’s Thirteeners. For women with previous backpacking experience and a good level of fitness.

Let the llamas do the lifting! Enjoy hiking with a day pack as you explore Wyoming’s stunning Snowy Range. Develop the skills to venture out on trips of your own, including route finding, backcountry cooking, packing and equipment lists. Llamas are friendly, group-oriented, low-impact trail partners who can comfortably carry 70 pounds each, joyfully lightening your load. This course is designed for hikers wanting to venture on an extended trip and more experienced backpackers ready to carry a little less.

Unwind through the canyons. Get grounded on an introductory backpacking course in Utah’s slickrock canyons. This course covers all the backpacking basics, from safety and route finding to backcountry cooking, pack fitting and equipment lists. Enjoy the serene stillness of the desert, as you follow a route deep into a steep-walled canyon, with a year-round running stream and sweeping views of the La Sal Mountains from the mesa top. For women with previous hiking experience; no backpacking experience needed. Begins and ends in Grand Junction, CO.
