Volunteer Spotlight!
Victoria joined us this past August and has been a consistent and enjoyable presence helping on a multitude of levels. Everything from mailings, to logistics, to spreading the word about our winter programs, Victoria has had a welcome hand! Among her favorite projects is organizing and cleaning the gear room and food pantry to help prepare for trips; "I love organizing!" When asked about why she chose to volunteer with TWWI she offers, "working to assist women to empower themselves through nature is exactly the two components I was looking for in my future work. My favorite parts about volunteering with The Women's Wilderness Institute are the women I get to work with, independence in the projects I work on, and making a project my own."
Service to others is a huge part of Victoria's life as she currently works with young women in a program that helps them transition from alcohol and drug rehab centers into living in the community in Boulder. She also does in-home care for older adults and has a private massage practice focusing on well-being and supporting those in recovery from addictions. "To me, the most important thing about volunteering is feeling like I am part of community that contributes to the well-being of all of us - both through the work we do and the participants that partake in the programs."
We are lucky to have great volunteers like Victoria share her experience, passion and energy with us - thank you!! Are you looking for ways to be more involved in your community?
