Marketing Director Announcement

Our search is on for one amazing individual whose combined marketing expertise and passion for The Women's Wilderness Institute will drive communication about our groundbreaking and impactful programs. This highly skilled and experienced professional will lead the strategy, development and execution of all marketing, communications, media and public relations for The Women's Wilderness Institute.


Responsibilites/Essential Duties:

  • Develops and implements marketing strategy and tactical plans for both the Girls' and the Women's courses, with a focus on branding and consistent messaging. Teams with Enrollment Coordinator to ensure enrollment in 60 Girls' and Women's' courses. Girls' outreach incorporates school presentations and the Marketing Director works with teachers and manages staff for presentations. Women's outreach requires a wide range of targeted marketing initiatives including advertising, internet and grassroots campaigns; outreach to past participants; strategic partnerships; and new, creative initiatives.
  • Responsible for overseeing concept, design, production, and distribution of all marketing materials, including course catalog; annual report; print, online and broadcast advertising; flyers, posters and brochures. Manages e-newsletter production, determines and writes articles, works collaboratively with Office Manager to produce monthly e-newsletters.
  • Establishes and maintains media professional relationships, develops press releases, and media pitches for newspapers, magazines, web-based opportunities, radio and TV. Engages national and regional public relations for The Women's Wilderness Institute.
  • Responsible for website strategy and content development, oversees site maintenance. Works collaboratively with Office Manager to ensure website function and accuracy for both womenwilderness.org and girlswilderness.org. Responsible for Google ad word search and SEO strategies.
  • Initiates and manages cross promotion and sponsorships with the Outdoor industry.
  • Responsible for developing and managing a departmental budget.
  • Plans and facilitates special events/fundraisers targeted at gaining new participants, donors, in addition to the publicity for The Women's Wilderness Institute. Assists ED with donor development, such as year-end appeal and point-of-entry meetings.
  • Manages a Marketing intern, pro-bono graphic designers and other partners to deliver the marketing needs of the organization.
  • Market research including monitoring market activity and competition, designing participant surveys, analyzing feedback and reporting findings.
  • Participates in shared program staff responsibilities including networking and community building, strategic planning, and cultural competency. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Abilities:

  • Able to demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent editing skills needed.
  • Strong project management experience and proven results with limited budget.
  • Internet marketing and social networking experience.
  • Strong presenter and experience creating and delivering impactful presentations.
  • Interest and competence in creative, grassroots nonprofit marketing.
  • Able to translate program interest into registration and achieve enrollment goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Excellence in survey development, research and information analysis.
  • Familiarity with the outdoor program industry.
  • Excellence in self management (work habits, use of time, stress management, interpersonal skills).
  • Ability to problem-solve and adapt to changing demands of work.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a small nonprofit structure. A team player with ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Solid office and computer skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Familiar with Microsoft Access database software and web management software. Graphic design capability and skill with Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
  • High energy and sense of humor essential.


Experience:

  • At least 5-7 years proven marketing experience. Demonstrated creativity and analytical ability, strategic organization branding and positioning experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications or business administration, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Supervisory experience a plus.


Salary and Benefits:

  • $34,000 - $36,000, depending on experience.
  • 3 weeks of vacation/sick (PTO), and 10 paid holidays. Health benefits after 3 months of employment. Matching retirement benefits after one year.
