Marketing Internship
We're looking for one outstanding individual to join our team and make a big difference getting the word out about The Women's Wilderness Institute. This fast-paced, diverse job is an unbeatable opportunity to learn about marketing practices and tactics for a small, and quickly growing, nonprofit. This marketing internship will work directly with the Marketing Director and fulfill several major marketing initiatives, including special events, internet and print media, grassroots materials distribution and working with corporate sponsors. This is a fast-paced, multi-tasking job that requires a self-directed, reliable individual with a wide variety of skills. You'll have tons of opportunity to put your talents and enthusiasm to good work! Applicants need the following skills and experience:
• Enrolled in a course of study in Marketing/Communications, or have work experience in the field.
• Extraordinary attention to detail and high level of organization.
• Have creative and artistic vision. Graphic design skills and familiarity with In-Design a plus.
• A basic understanding of traditional, new media and grassroots marketing tactics.
• Internet skills and an interest in Internet marketing.
• Basic office and computer skills including experience and/or aptitude with Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
• Excellent people skills, solid written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a small non-profit structure.
• Positivity, enthusiasm and commitment.
The intern will be responsible for the following:
• Event coordination for 2010 Gear & Cheer fundraiser: donation solicitation, event organization, post-event follow-up.
• Implement and supervise a volunteer "Street Team" in distributing catalogs and marketing materials.
• Interactive and social marketing, including maintenance of Facebook/Twitter pages and building of fan base, planning and implementing creative social marketing campaigns, establishing links, monitoring website hits, SEO and blogs.
• Maintain calendar listings and monitor media coverage.
• Assist with writing press releases, pitching stories to local media, and managing corporate partnerships.
• Other data collection and management tasks as assigned by the Outreach Coordinator and Executive Director.
Dates and Hours: Five months: January 2010 through May 2010 at 24 hours/week (days flexible).
Benefits: Stipend of $2,500. May participate on a women's course on a space-available basis through summer 2010. Hands-on experience, responsibility over projects and intimate knowledge of marketing strategy, planning, execution and events.
