Themes:Every group has different needs, and we will plan with you to identify goals and meet the needs of your group. Courses may be focused on fun, relaxation, and the bonding of a shared adventure, or tailored to build teamwork or work through common issues in the group. Following are just a few types of custom courses we've designed in recent years:
Private LessonsBrush up your skills before a big trip or get a head-start on a new sport. Learn one-on-one with our talented staff for a full- or half-day session on a date that works perfectly for you. Our individual instruction prices are very competitive to make the steep side of the learning curve affordable and accessible.
Leadership RetreatsBring together your own group of awe-inspiring women and/or girls, or a mixed gender group, and we'll center the experience around the issues and themes of your choosing. Topics include: emotional intelligence; leading with head, heart and gut; ethics, values and community; creating a common vision; and communication styles. We've designed courses for school groups, nonprofits, community organizations and business leaders, including: Girl Scouts Mile Hi Council, I Have a Dream Foundation, Naropa University, The Challenge School, Shining Mountain Waldorf School, Sigman Financial Fitness, and The Wilderness Society.
Wilderness VacationsSpend time doing yoga and rock climbing with your closest friends. Bike or backpack in celebration of a birthday, special occasion or family reunion. You decide what sounds like fun, where and for how long, and we'll make it happen!
Corporate Team-BuildingSpend a day, or several, joining forces with colleagues around a common theme or business challenge. Have fun building bonds out of the office, or come together for a wilderness-inspired strategy session. We'll work with you to identify objectives, customize breakthrough exercises, guide you towards new ways of thinking, and help you develop a concrete action plan.
Participants:Groups may be youth, adults, or mixed ages. Participants need to be in good health, and have a level of fitness suited for the activity and type of course that is arranged. Mixed-gender groups are welcome. For youth-group backpacking courses, participants must be 12 or older.
Location:We offer dozens of breathtakingly beautiful spots to run your custom course. Here are a few ideas to get you started, and we can offer additional options in equally spectacular settings once we better understand where you'd like to go and what you hope to achieve.
- Snowy Range of southern Wyoming
- Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
- Blue Moon Ranch, near Red Feather Lakes, Colorado
- Slickrock desert canyons, Utah
- Gunnison or Green rivers, Colorado and Utah
- Boulder, CO area
- Vedauwoo, world-renowned rock climbing area near Laramie, Wyoming
Accomodations: Choices range from comfortable camping, to rustic cabins and backcountry yurts, or well-appointed cabins.
Pricing:Costs vary depending on the type, length, and location of the course. Cost is based on a maximum group size of ten, and begins at $1,250 per day. Our fee includes all food, gear, and loaned clothing. Reduced-rate pricing can sometimes be negotiated for youth or under-served populations.
Process:Custom courses can be arranged between one and six months ahead of your desired date. The Women's Wilderness Institute will work with a representative of your group or organization to build all the details and create an experience tailored to your needs, interests and timeframe.
