We're excited to offer a few different Program Internship positions for this coming summer! It is a great way to gain experience with logistics management as well as getting in the field on both our Girls' Wilderness courses and our Women's courses.Check out these cool opportunities!

Program Coordinator
Program Assistant

Program CoordinatorThis administrative, logistics, and field-based internship will cover a wide range of aspects of outdoor program administration and delivery. The Program Coordinator (PC) will work closely with the Program Director to manage all aspects of spring, summer and fall program delivery. This is a fast-paced, multi-tasking job that requires a self-directed, reliable individual with a wide variety of skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supply food for spring, summer and fall courses. Including:
  • Inventory and stock bulk food & supplies for seasonal operations.
  • Utilize a computerized system of course menus and food amounts to plan course menus and seasonal food inventory.
  • Purchase and pack food for courses.
  • Manage equipment needs for spring, summer and fall season. Including:
  • Inventory gear and make pre-season gear requests and purchases.
  • Track, maintain and repair gear as needed throughout the season.
  • Assist field staff in proper care, storage and maintenance of equipment.
  • Prep, de-rig and put away gear from each course
  • Supervising volunteers with all of the above tasks.
  • Assist Program Director with other program-related tasks including, but not limited to: course paperwork and supplies prep, maintaining files for licensing and permitting purposes, managing course-end paperwork and participant feedback forms. Assisting in pre- and post-course briefings with field staff.
  • Work with office staff on a variety of tasks and projects as needed.


Dates: April 1 through October 1. (6 months) Exact beginning/ending dates somewhat flexible.

Times: Full time: Monday - Sunday (Specific days and times are based on course need.)

Benefits:

  • Gain program management and administrative experience in a well-established, and growing innovative outdoor education organization.
  • Gain field experience through shadowing one to two girls' wilderness program courses (6-20 field days). These days may be additionally paid on the field staff pay scale if the candidate meets hiring qualifications for girls' wilderness courses.
  • Participate in field staff training (8 days in May)
  • Stipend of $1026.66/month.
  • May participate on unlimited women's courses during the period of the internship, on a space-available basis.

Program Assistant:This logistics, field, and administrative internship will cover a wide range of aspects of outdoor program administration, with an emphasis on logistics delivery. The Program Assistant will work closely with the Program Director and the other Program Interns to implement all aspects of summer program delivery. This is a fast-paced, multi-tasking job that requires self-directed, reliable individuals with a wide variety of skills.
Applicants need the following skills and experience:

  • Experience with outdoor program gear and outdoor programming.
  • Personal camping, backpacking, and/or climbing experience.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail and high level of organization.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a small non-profit structure.
  • Excellent people skills and solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic office and computer skills including experience and/or aptitude with Microsoft Word, Access and Excel.

The intern will be responsible for the following:

  • Pack equipment for designated courses.
  • Maintain equipment inventories for all courses working with.

  • Assist field staff in proper care, storage and maintenance of equipment.
  • Prep, de-rig and put away gear from each course
  • Supervising volunteers with all of the above tasks.
  • Assisting Program Director with other program-related tasks including, but not limited to: course paperwork and supplies prep, photography archiving, managing course-end paperwork and participant feedback forms.
  • Work with office staff on a variety of tasks and projects as needed.


Dates: June 1 through August 31. (3 months) Exact beginning/ending dates somewhat flexible.

Times: ½ time: Approximately 25 hours/week not including field time, Monday - Sunday (Specific days and times are based on course need.)

  • Gain field experience through shadowing one girls' wilderness program courses (6-12 field days). Participate in field staff training (8 days in May)
  • Stipend of $500/month.
  • May participate on up to 3 women's courses during the period of the internship, on a space-available basis.
  • Work in an office full of fabulous women!
